Is it ok to prosper as a Christian?
Ahhhh….the age old question.
Religion (doctrine’s of men) tells us, by and large, NO! Depending on which denomination you’re affiliated with determines the level of prosperity that’s acceptable. Especially if you’re in ministry of any kind. That’s a crazy statement, right? This post, I hope, will shed some light on what GOD thinks which is really the only voice that matters in the end.
What does GOD say about prosperity and money?
Before we dive into that topic there are some assumptions I’m making here.
Number 1 is that you are a Christian. If you haven’t made Jesus the LORD of your life yet scroll to the bottom of this article and click on the “Show Me” tab. HE loves you and wants you to be part of HIS Family.
Number 2, if you are already saved, you are a tither.
Malachi 3:8
“Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
If you don’t tithe, scripture says you are robbing GOD. With that said, GOD is sovereign. I am not saying HE can’t bless people who aren’t Christians or Christians who don’t tithe. HE can do as HE pleases. What I am saying is if you are saved and you want to be consistently blessed by the LORD you must be a tither. It’s a spiritual law.
Let’s look at some scripture now to set the foundation of what GOD thinks about us and prosperity.
GOD created the world and everything in it.
Psalm 89:11 NLT “The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours; everything in the world is yours—you created it all.”
GOD created man, “Adam”.
Genesis 1:26-27 KJV
26 And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
HE owns every beast of the forest and the cattle on a thousand hills.
Psalm 50:10 NKJ “For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.”
All the silver and gold is the LORD’S because HE created it.
Haggai 2:8 KJV “The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,” says the Lord of hosts.
So, according to these scriptures, GOD created everything the world holds. HE owned it all. Then HE gave Adam dominion over all the earth. Which means Adam had dominion over the cattle on a thousand hills. He had dominion over the silver and gold. He had dominion over everything GOD had created.
This begs the question, for whom did GOD create the world and everything in it for? Does GOD need gold and silver in heaven? Does HE need what HE put on Earth in heaven? No, of course not! Did HE make it all for the devil and his fallen minions? Obviously not because HE gave Adam authority over everything, not Satan. Adam was the “god” over Earth. When Satan came along and got Adam to commit treason and turn over his authority to him, he (Satan) became “god” over this world. He stole the authority by deception. (Wow! Some things never change. Sounds a whole lot like the 2020 Election, but that’s a topic for another day. 🙂 ) (2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”)
When Jesus came and died on the cross and was resurrected on the third day HE bought back the ability for us to be restored to the FATHER with HIS shed blood. We now have the opportunity to become citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, if we choose, and obtain the rights and privileges that come with that citizenship. One of those privileges is authority over the enemy. Satan is still the “god” of this world but we can tell him what to do!
Revelation 1:18 NKJ “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.“
Colossians 2:15 NKJ Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
John 10:10 NKJ ” The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.“
Matthew 18:18 NKJ “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Luke 10:19 NKJ “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.“
Luke 12:26 KJV Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
The scripture above tells us that GOD feeds the birds of the air even though they don’t sow or reap. Aren’t we even more valuable to HIM than the birds? Of course, we are. HE sacrificed HIS one and only SON for us. If HE was willing to do that then HE is not the one withholding anything from us. Satan is the one keeping us broke using every method he can. He knows we will take money and do good with it and that goes against everything he stands for.
Matthew 6:38 KJV Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall MEN give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
The scripture above says that MEN (emphasis mine) shall give into your bosom. Where are MEN? On the Earth of course! So the gold and silver are here on Earth for us to claim.
Proverbs 18:21 NKJ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
So based on all the information above, what should we do? Should we pray and ask GOD to send us money from Heaven? Does HE have money up there to send? It’s pretty clear to me the answer is NO! The money is here on Earth. We open our mouths, take authority and claim what we need and want.
Need is one thing Shanna, but want? Yes, I said WANT!
Psalm 23:1 NKJ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 34:10 KJV The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
So, according to scripture, this is what we should do:
Claim whatever we need or want and say “Satan, take your hands off my finances. Go ministering spirits and cause the money(or whatever it is) to come.”
Hebrews 1:14 KJV Are they, not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister FOR (emphasis mine) them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Ministering spirits are the angels GOD appointed to serve us. What happens when you go to a restaurant? The waiter/waitress comes to serve the table. You put in your order and they go get it. Do you see it? Turn your order in so the angels can go get it! Say, “Go ministering spirits and cause the money to come.”
Heirs of salvation are me and you. They minister for us. They go and cause money or whatever we’ve asked for to come to us. Once we’ve asked for what we need or want that’s it. We don’t need to keep asking. We believe we have received by faith. We just say “Thank you LORD for it. It is coming.”
I had to put this to the test before I could even write this article. I had some money that was owed to me. It had been delayed month after month. It was about 5 months past due. So I did exactly what I said earlier. I spoke, “Satan, take your hands off my money. Ministering spirits go and cause the money to come.” Within one week, one week I’m telling you, that money hit my account!! Money that had been delayed over and over again came after I took authority and claimed what was mine!
How many other things do we not know? This revelation has really got me thinking. GOD’S ways of doing things work. We try to make it complicated. The enemy likes to bring confusion. In reality, it’s incredibly simple. We just have to seek the LORD with all of our hearts and learn from HIM. HE will show us the way.
I hope you will put this to the test as well. I’d love to hear your story. Hit the contact button at the top right and send me your testimony.
Until next time. Praise GOD! HE is worthy!!
