In honor of Mother’s Day I thought I would share this short post I wrote about Ruth.
The book of Ruth may only have 4 small chapters but much can be learned from it.
This is only one of many insights about it.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
It’s most amazing how intricately the Lord orders our steps.
The bible says every day of your life was written before you were even formed. Psalm 139:16
He knew every step of Ruth’s life before she was even a thought to her parents.
Ruth’s husband had died along with his brother.
Her mother-in-law, Naomi, is leaving to go back to her own country because she is now alone.
She and her sister-in-law, Orpah are free to go back to their own families and are strongly encouraged to do so by Naomi.
Orpah does just that but Ruth refuses to leave her.
She pledges to go where she goes, live where she lives and die where you die. Your God will be my God. Ruth 1:16-17
She chose to honor her mother-in-law and follow the steps the Lord ordained for her.
Ruth meets Boaz.
He redeems both of them from the curse of death and gives them hope and a future.
After Boaz and Ruth marry she conceives a son whom they name Obed.
Obed becomes the father of Jesse who becomes the father of King David.
Jesus is a direct descendent of King David.
Think about how integral her life was to humanity!
Her character and her actions were all vital to bringing Jesus into this world.
Now think about your life.
The verses above are true for you just as they were for Ruth.
The Lord Jesus has good plans prepared for you as well. Every day of your life has already been written.
You are vital to the Lord’s plans being fulfilled on this earth.
No matter what, you matter!
Your children matter. Your family matters.
God loves you so, so much!
